Richell is currently an assistant researcher at University of Twente, within the Translational Liver Research group. In August 2019, she obtained her master degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Twente. She did her master thesis within the liver lab, at that time a sub-group of the research group Biomaterials Science & Technology. Her master thesis was focused on the role of a specific pathway, the LPA-ATX pathway, in liver fibrosis. With this she investigated the biological functionality of different inhibitors of this pathway in vitro and in vivo. After her master thesis defense, she was asked to stay within the group and continue and expand her research.
Richell is part of the ‘Targeted (nano)therapeutics/(nano)theranostics for diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases’ research topic within the Translational Liver Research group. Her main field of research is on the LPA-ATX pathway in liver disease. Hereby, she is researching the specific role this pathway plays in the development of various chronic liver diseases. With this, she investigates different ATX-inhibitors as therapeutic treatment for liver disease. This project is currently financially supported by NKI, Amsterdam.
